Army Medical Corps Recruitment 2019: Medical Officer [150 Posts], Apply Online

Armed Force Medical Services has released the recruitment notification on 150 vacancies as an SSC (Short service Commissioned) Officer in the Army Medical Corps. There are a total of 150 vacancies in which 15 are reserved for female candidates while 135 are reserved for male candidates. The starting date of filling the online application form is 22 June 2019 and it will close on 21 July 2019.Only Indian citizens can apply for these posts who have qualified their final MBBS exams in first or second attempt only. The candidates who have cleared their final exams in more than two attempts are not eligible and therefore no need to apply. For further details, read the information given below.


1.    The applicant is required to qualify the MBBS exam in First or Second schedule of IMC Act 1956.
2.    The candidate or applicant should have permanent registration or license from any State Medical Council or IMC.
3.    Applicants having post graduation or diploma can also apply which should have been recognized by IMC or State Medical Council.
4.    The candidates only who have completed or are completing their medical internship on or before 30/06/2019 are eligible to apply or else not.

Age Limit:

The age of the candidate should not be 45 years or more as on 31/12/2019.

Application Fees:

Every applicant is required to pay a fee of Rs 200 while applying for the job. The fee can be paid online only using Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. This amount is to be paid after completely filling the online application form.

     Now click on the New Registration option appearing in the left side column of the website.
     Follow the steps and fill your details and apply for the post.
     Now pay the fees and download the application form.

Selection Procedure:

1.    Interview:
The eligible candidates who would have applied for the job will be called for interview at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi from 30 July 2019 and onwards by a board of Medical Officers. The interview is scheduled so as to check their suitability and capability in the Army Medical Corps.

Note:- The candidates who will appear for the interview at Army Hospital, will be given a travel allowance of their coming and return journey.

2. Physical and Medical Standards and Test:

     The candidates who will qualify the interview round will have to go under an Initial medical Examination where the medical officers will check your health and body as per required medical standards. The proceedings are kept confidential.
     The candidates declared “Fit” will be selected. The candidates declared “Unfit” can apply for Appeal Medical Board within 7 days after their test. If the candidates are declared “Unfit” again, then they can apply for Review Medical Board for final appeal.
     If pregnancy is detected in female candidates at any stage, then they will be declared “Temporarily Unfit”.
     All candidates are advised to undergo a pre-medical checkup before appearing in the Medical exam.
3. Merit List:
     The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of merit list made by the Armed Force Medical Services.
     Different Merit list will be prepared for Male and Female Candidates.
     Extra marks will be given to NCC candidates as per their certificates described below:

     The released merit list of medically fit candidates will receive a joining for commissioning as SSC Officers up to the number of vacancies available in each of the merit lists.

Call Letter for the Interview:

The call letter for the interview will be available to the candidates online only after the successful completion and submission of the application form.

Attestation Form:

The attestation form is a required form to be filled and attested by the candidate. The form is available at the official website of Armed Forces Medical Services. The form consists of several pages including the Police Verification Report.


1.    After final selection, the candidates will work as a Medical Officer and can be placed in any force: Army, Navy, or Air Force in any region and any part of the country. They may also have to work individually in the units allotted to them.
2.    The SSC Medical Officers are eligible to serve in Para and Special Forces.

Salary and Allowance:

1.    The Doctors will be granted the rank of Captain in the Army and equivalent Ranks in Navy and Airforce when commissioned in Armed Forces Medical Services. They will be paid as per the 10B level of Defence Pay Matrix with basic pay of Rs. 61,300/- and MSP of 15,500 plus HRA if applicable. Other allowances like TA, NPA, DA, etc. will also be given.
2.    The total minimum pay scale at the time of joining will be approx, Rs. 97000/- per month.
3.    Alongside, the officers are rendered a 60-days annual leave and 20 days casual leave every year. Leave Travel Concession, free medical services for you and your family including parents, group insurance, Canteen Stores Department facility will also be provided to you as a Medical Officer.

Promotions for SSC Officers:

The SSC Medical Officers are commissioned as Captain in the Army or equivalent ranks in Navy and Air Force. The officers are promoted to the rank of Major after a service of four years and to the rank of Lt. Colonel after a total service of eleven years which is subjected to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.


     The candidates are required to save or write their registration numbers and online transaction details for quoting during inquiries or correspondence.

     The candidates are required to carry the original documents and their 4 attested copies as mentioned in the official notification.
     Any difference found in the filled details and original documents will lead the candidate to get rejected.
